In keeping with our commitment to provide continuous training and development for our employees, NEVLEC with CARILEC to host a five-day (5 day) Level 1 training engagement for our Operators. This training was held at the Prospect Power Station’s training room for the period of June 17th to 21st 2024, 8 am to 4 pm daily.
The Operators Training was facilitated by Dr. Tagore Ramlal who imparted critical knowledge to eleven (11) employees namely, McClevan Watkins Jr., Deris Manners, Tavare Richards, Cyprian Miller, Chris-Andrew Smith, Vaughn Arthurton, Rashiem Frazer, Michael Smithen, Randy Chad Ghandeo, Kishmoy Browne and Jaheim Webb.
The training covered a range of topics such as:
- OHMS Law, Kirchoff Voltage Law, Current Law and introduction to series and parallel circuit
- Introduction to capacity and inductive current
- How capacitor and inductor operate in series and parallel circuit
- How to calculate impedance and reactance in AC circuit
- Determine power in AC circuit
- Frequency and Power Factor calculations
- Magnetism
- Transformers
- Motors
- Induction motor analysis
- Synchronous generator analysis
- Characteristics of motor under different operational circumstances
- Engine components and system
- Renewable Sources (wind, solar, geothermal)
- Safety
We are pleased that all of our operators completed this training session with passing grades and were awarded certificates of completion.
