Called! Went! Assisted!
The NIA and NEVLEC are proud to welcome back home our four (4) lineworkers who travelled to Carriacou (Grenada) to assist with Hurricane Beryl restoration efforts. After a two-week (2-week) stint, Mr. Rhyan Liburd, Mr. Clayon Clarke, Mr. Kishawn Hobson and Mr. Paul Bradshaw are now back in Nevis and have resumed their regular duties at NEVLEC. Their experience in Carriacou was a meaningful but bittersweet one. Our lineworkers were happy to assist those in need but the devastation they witnessed was truly heartbreaking.
The Grenada Electricity Services Ltd. (GRENLEC) expressed great appreciation for the restoration efforts of the St. Kitts & Nevis electrical utility teams. This was evident in an August 22nd 2024 Facebook post.
Interesting fact:
In 2017, NEVLEC was present to assist the Anguilla Electricity Company Ltd. (ANGLEC) with its restoration efforts following the passage of Hurricane Irma. Mr. Liburd and Mr. Clarke were both apart of the NEVLEC delegation to Anguilla at that time. Carriacou has a long way to go before restoration efforts are complete but NEVLEC is happy to have lent a helping hand.
We take this opportunity to thank the CARILEC team who were instrumental in making these restoration efforts possible. Heartfelt thanks is also expressed to GRENLEC for their hospitality and special commendation must be given to the neighboring utilities for readily assisting our brothers and sisters in Carriacou.
